1980 Toyota FJ40. Exceptionally well-presented, matching numbers & factory invoice.

An exceptionally well-presented example of Toyota’s iconic FJ40 Land Cruiser Hard Top featuring the venerable 2F 6-cylinder 4.2 engine. Additional features include highly sought-after A/C and power steering. Being a post ’79 model, it features an underside fuel tank, updated steering wheel and floor mounted handbrake. The Factory invoice is included in the file, confirming the original matching numbers status. The car has spent its entire life in Indonesia in the custardy of 4 owners and the mileage of 161.119 KMS is believed to be authentic.

In 2015 a full nut and bolt restoration was undertaken by a well-seasoned Land Cruiser restorer. During the restoration, the colour was changed from Dark Brown to Dune Beige and was subject to a body-off complete bare metal respray with all panels and glass removed accordingly.  

Additionally, the following mechanical tasks were conducted.

• Cylinder head stripped and rebuilt, including valve seals and new gaskets
• Carburettor stripped and rebuilt
• Transmission and 4×4 system stripped, inspected, and rebuilt
• Chassis completely stripped, epoxy primed and repainted with chassis coach paint
• Shock absorbers and all steering dampers replaced, upgraded front disc brakes fitted
• Original leaf springs stripped, treated, and rebuilt
• New Steel OEM 16” wheels, including OEM Chrome hubcaps and Maxxis 31.5” All-terrain tyres
• WARN locking front hubs fitted
• Wiring harness replaced
• A/C installed

The interior is a great place to be as you can see from the pictures, the seat facings are largely original with small sections having been refurbished, the door cards being rare NOS items and the headlining has been replaced with an OEM perforated panel.

All import taxes have been paid and we are in the process of UK registering. Whilst being MOT exempt, an MOT will be conducted for complete peace of mind.
