Key Facts

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

Finished in Super White (040) with Dark Blue velour interior and supplied new in April 1988.

The car has covered 90,210 and whilst the earlier service history had long ago been misplaced, there is comprehensive documentation relating to the last 6 years of maintenance which includes cambelt, brake calliper replacement, exhaust, front shock absorber and various (Genuine Toyota) suspension and steering bushes work with a recent service.

The wheels are quite exceptional, having been professionally refurbished in the correct finish and the tyres are all recent with approximately 7mm tread depth.

In the last 13 years the car has been in the custardy of 2 owners and prior to this, 5 former keepers in 20 years.

The car drives ever so well and is a lot of fun to drive, the exterior whilst not concours is very good overall and always turns heads. The interior is exceptionally nice, and pretty much time-warp.  All the glass is original and is security etched along with the lights and T-top glass. The original Toyota tool kit is present along with original blue sunshades and T-top glass storage bags. All the T-top rubber seals are in great shape with no perishing or tears. There are matching blue carpet over mats fitted too.

A fellow exhibitor in the same exhibition hall spotted the car and after some arm twisting a deal was struck and the car was delivered by his local Mercedes dealer – Hughes of Beaconsfield on December 3rd.

The car was used frequently until the owner took delivery of an early R129 SL300 in late 1989. The SL won him over and the S Class was then scarcely used but parked safely in his garage at his residence in Poole, Dorset.

Fast forward another 11 years and the car was driven to his son’s residence near Maidenhead, Berkshire – the plan being to sell the car. The car was subsequently parked up – mostly outside until 2020. For the last year, the car has been kept safely inside after a thorough clean-up.

The mileage at 36,086 miles is correct and authentic, a one owner car and retaining its original factory paintwork.

The car will now need restoring and should you be interested to know more, please contact us for further details.

1994 Volkswagen Golf VR6 3Dr. Rare manual with impeccable history and low ownership.

1994 Volkswagen Golf VR6 3Dr. Rare manual with impeccable history and low ownership.

Key Facts

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

Delivered new in May 1994 by Normand Continental to PBW Road and Track Ltd who were a small leasing company based in Holland Park, London. PBW sold the car directly to their Client, who part exchanged her 1987 VW Golf GTI 16V against the VR6 – the original order is included in the history file.

The car was kept up until her retirement in 2010 and subsequent move to the South of France, given to her nephew who kept custardy of the car for a further 12 months covering 3,000 miles during this time, a trip to visit his Aunt in France accounted for most of this mileage.

In September 2010, the car was sold to a car enthusiast in Leicester, the mileage being 36,000 miles at point of sale. He kept the car for a period of 9 years and covered an additional 25,000 miles. During his ownership, he maintained the car himself and in the last 4 years the car was unused and dry stored.

In January 2020 the following work was carried out by a retired VW Master Technician.

  • New Brake Callipers and carriers all round
  • New Brake discs and pads all round
  • New brake master cylinder
  • New ABS valve block
  • New rear wheel bearings
  • New front suspension struts
  • New rear shock absorbers
  • New radiator, coolant hoses, thermostat and crack pipe
  • Re-bushed gear lever linkages and replacement relay lever
  • All fluids replaced, coolant, brake fluid
  • Oil and filter and air filter
  • New Spark plugs and coil pack
  • New battery

In summary, a remarkably original Golf VR6 3 door manual, finished in Windsor Blue with Blue cloth interior. Importantly, the underside of the car is in excellent shape with none of the usual MK111 Golf corrosion issues, weld repairs or black underseal often seen. The car even retains its original one-piece leather gear knob and gaiter which is rare as they are often replaced with the plastic GTI version due to wear.

Overall, the car is a stand-out example and will sit well in any serious car collection.
