1989 Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6 One family owner since 1993. Outstanding and original.

Key Facts

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

A delightfully original and unmolested phase 1.5 205 GTI 1.6 which has covered only 70,720 miles with comprehensive documentation to support the mileage. It has been in the custardy of one family in the last 28 years who purchased the car in April 1993 from the Wimbledon GTI Centre.

Supplied new to its first owner on the 19th March 1989 by the Peugeot agency, N.C.K Services in St. Leonards on Sea, West Sussex. Ordered in Alpine White with factory fitted Sliding Sunroof and dealer fitted wind deflector.

Subsequently, the car was then sold by Cooper West BMW to its second owner in December 1990 who maintained the car until March 1992. The third owner purchased the car in July 1992 from the Lionheart Motor Company – the Peugeot agency based in Clapham, London.

Its long-term ownership commenced in April 1993 after being supplied by the Wimbledon GTI Centre who provided a two-year warranty with the car. The car was agency maintained until the expiry of the warranty and the last entry in the service book being 50,500 miles. After this the car was carefully maintained by the owner himself and always safely garaged. The car was in regular use until 2005 and 6 years later MOT’d but not subsequently used.

Testimony to how well the car was cared for, the underside is quite incredible, void of any corrosion and still maintaining its factory finish. The paintwork is factory original and in beautiful condition overall, the only panel that has received refreshment being the bonnet due to some light scuffs from storage.

In the vehicle file there is the documentation confirming the above and additionally all the original MOT (Pre VOSA) certificates as follows:

  • 31/03/93 43,984 miles
  • 20/04/94 49,816 miles
  • 20/04/95 53,458 miles
  • 01/05/96 56,058 miles
  • 01/05/97 58,081 miles
  • 30/04/98 61,257 miles
  • 06/05/99 63,353 miles
  • 06/05/00 65,209 miles
  • 10/05/01 66,332 miles
  • 03/05/02 68,280 miles
  • 06/05/03 69,309 miles
  • 05/05/04 69,817 miles

The car has recently received the following sympathetic mechanical recommissioning, consisting of the following:

  • Replacement cambelt and water pump in February 2021.
  • Replacement of original fuel lines with exacting CNC shaped lines.
  • Replacement of rear exhaust silencer.
  • Replacement of all brake lines, linings, and flexible hoses.
  • Refurbishment of front brake callipers and rear brake drum assemblies.
  • Replacement clutch cable.
  • Replacement injector seals and ultrasonic cleaning, one injector replaced.
  • Compression checked and found to be 200 PSI across all cylinders.
  • Replacement front top-mount bearings.
  • Refurbishment of alloy wheels.
  • Four new Uniroyal tyres.
  • Full service.

Everything works as it should – even down to the factory sunroof vacuum seal!

We stress that the car isn’t a restored example as it’s been so well kept over time and not been necessary, it’s incredibly original and in lovely condition throughout. It always attracts admiring comments wherever you go and an absolute pleasure to own and drive. It would sit very nicely in a collection in our opinion.

Key Facts

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

A delightfully original and unmolested phase 1.5 205 GTI 1.6 which has covered only 67,400 miles with comprehensive documentation to support the mileage. It has had only 3 owners in total throughout the last 32 years and has always been cherished.

Supplied new to its first owner on the 3rd August 1989 by the Peugeot agency, Clerkenleap Motors in Worcester, ordered in Cherry Red with Quartet seat fabric, factory options of Electric windows, Central locking and Sliding sunroof were specified. The original new car sales invoice is included within the history file.

The car was serviced no less than 15 times up until the owner part exchanged for a new Peugeot in January 1999.

Subsequently, the car was then sold by Regal Garage (Peugeot) in Bromsgrove to its 2nd owner who kept the car for over 16 years, used sparingly and maintaining well.

Due to ill-health the owner was unable to use and enjoy the car and it was kept safely garaged from 2007 until 2013 when the family considered selling the car.

A further 2 years passed and after careful vetting an agreement was made to sell the car to its next owner.

The car was then subjected to some sympathetic mechanical recommissioning by the new owner, all of which ensuring the 205 drives as it was first intended, and it does exactly that.

We stress that the car isn’t a restored example, it’s been so well kept over time and not been necessary, it’s incredibly original and in lovely condition throughout. It always attracts admiring comments wherever you go and an absolute pleasure to own and drive. It would sit very nicely in a collection in our opinion.

Key Facts

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

There is confirmation of this from the Highland Council Archive records with a copy of the original ledger. Additionally, there is a Heritage Certificate confirming it’s build-date and original colour in Blue.

45 years later in 1996 and the car was bought as a project and fully rebuilt over the following 16 years.

There are many invoices – 60 in total in the vehicle file including an itemised list of parts body parts that were galvanised as follows.: Bulkhead, Front bumper, Door and tailgate hinges, Seat brackets, Capping channels, Windscreen channel, Tailgate pig tail, Various hooks.

All of which have stood the test of the last 22 years and the chassis and floors are in very good condition with no rust. Many other mechanical parts were rebuilt/replaced with invoices supporting such.

The original engine was replaced with Land Rover’s venerable 2.5 Litre OHV unit which performs well and was sourced from a 1986 110, a new carburettor being installed too.

The engine runs perfectly and pulls extremely well with no oil or coolant leaks.

Whilst not original It makes the vehicle very useable especially with the fitment of overdrive.

2002 Kawasaki Ninja 636 A1P. Sought-after carburettor model in unbelievable condition. A collectors dream.

Key Facts

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

Kawasaki ZX636 A1P 2002, last of the classic and now sought-after carburettor fed Kawasaki super sport bikes. 8,502 miles only! In fantastic, unmolested condition.

Just the two owners from new, the first keeping for 5 years and 6,000 miles dry use only, the second for 14 years and occasional summer use covering an additional mileage of only 2,480miles. I really doubt that the bike has even seen rain, judging by its condition, the pictures speak for themselves.

Despite its infrequent use, the oil was always changed every 500 miles along with frequent plug changes and the brake fluid changed every year. The carburettors were rebuilt and fully balanced. After 2016, due to work commitments, the bike was kept carefully indoors in a warm environment, started and moved frequently.

Some tasteful modifications made during its tenure with the second owner, as follows:

  • Micron carbon fibre exhaust silencer and connecting pipe
  • BF Goodridge braded brake hoses
  • Rear undertray
  • Rear wheel hugger
  • Tail tidy
  • Tinted visor
  • Set of crash bobbins
  • Black anodised clutch & brake levers.
  • LED Indicators
  • K&N style air filter

Standard components – Silencer, indicators, visor and clutch/break handles are included with the bike and in excellent condition, should you wish to easily return to original & standard specification. The owner’s handbook and service booklet/history are complete with the bike along with 2 sets of original keys.

The bike has just been fully checked over including new Pirelli tyres, service, replacement Yuassa battery and an advisory free MOT. Please note that care will need to be taken to run the new tyres in

It’s ready to be enjoyed again for the summer months or kept in a bike collection.

1981 Ford Capri 2.8 Injection Automatic. Especially consigned by SVE for Henry Ford II. Unique car

1981 Ford Capri 2.8 Injection Automatic. Especially consigned by SVE for Henry Ford II. Unique car

Key Facts

CAPRI STORY

In December 1981, this unique Capri was delivered to Dagenham after being identified as a special vehicle and given A1 treatment on the production line at Cologne – this included extra layers of paint (Graphite Grey/Strato Silver) and the strictest QC checks – above a regular production vehicle.

From Dagenham the car was personally driven by Paul Harrison – Former Executive Director of Europe Communications and Public Affairs and delivered to Rod Mansfield – Former head of SVE at Dunton Engineering Centre – who took charge of the further modifications to the car.

The modifications consisted of SVE adapting and installing a C3 Automatic transmission, a leather interior with matching grey vinyl door cards and a specially widened driver’s seat were commissioned and fitted by the Ford Design department. After the conversion, the car was delivered to Turville Grange in Buckinghamshire, the Ford’s country residence.

The car was kept with the Ford’s until 1983 and returned to Dunton and subsequently sold to Ron Mellor – Head of Ford Product Development. Paul Harrison recalls the conversation preceding the transaction, the car being requested by Ron for his wife to use.

In 1986, Ron Mellor advertised the car on the Dunton staff notice board and it was sold to Alan Jarman – Former Head of Design. Alan kept the car until 1994 and it is reputed that he used the car for his weekly commute from Torquay to Dunton. In April 1993, the car was featured in the Capri Club International Magazine. The original V5 is present in the vehicle file confirming the ownership pertaining to Alan Jarman.

Over the last 27 years the car has been in the custardy of 4 collectors and covered less than 6,000 miles. It is understood that a partial restoration was conducted during 2008 – 2010.

During December 2020 and February 2021, the car has been recommissioned both mechanically and cosmetically.

In November 2020, the car was documented in Steve Saxty’s book, Secret Fords and in March 2021 (May edition) featured in Classic Cars Magazine – the writer stating that the car had been subjected to the ‘most sympathetic restoration’ he had ever seen.

This model is a very rare early 1985 model year 1.3 Formel E variant, Volkswagen replaced the previously fitted 1043cc engine with the more powerful 1272cc unit for the 1985 model year cars.

Formel E models were fitted with modified carburettors, camshaft, pistons and featured electronic ignition. The overdrive (4th gear) ensured quieter, more economical driving with reduced engine wear.

Sold new in May 1984 by Whitehouse VW in Bexleyheath, finished in Polar Silver with an optional factory sliding sunroof. The original sales brochure is included in the vehicle file. The car was used sparingly and always garaged, maintained as necessary by Whitehouse with over 20 service visits documented in the service book.

After the original owner passed away the car was kept with the same family, safely garaged until early 2020.
