1958 Jaguar MK1 3.4 MOD, Totally rebuilt and technically enhanced, a true driver’s car.

Key Facts

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

For many years we’ve been big fans of the Jaguar MK11, our first example being bought in 1988, shortly after Jaguar’s Le Mans victory.

A succession of MK11’s subsequently followed, and we were often guilty of overlooking the MK1. However, as time passed, we grew to admire the MK1 for its charm and rarity and in 2015 we discovered 479ATA. The car was sold to us by its second owner and had fallen victim to poor storage and needed extensive restoration.

We thought long and hard about the direction to take and finally decided to create a very special car, a car that the late Mike Hawthorne would have loved to drive.

The body was extensively restored with various new panels, many handmade along with Coombs style rear arches crafted by our restoration team. Painted in British Racing Green and professionally retrimmed in Suede Green Leather and contrasting Wilton Carpets.  The wood trim has been sympathetically re-veneered, and the headlining replaced. All gauges have been refurbished where necessary.

Mechanically, we completed the following:

A fully rebuilt 3.8 engine fitted, prepared to the highest standard

Full synchromesh gearbox, coupled to the original overdrive

MK11 rear axle – providing widened track and fitted with disc brakes

Brakes, suspension, and steering components upgraded and replaced

Full hand-made stainless steel exhaust system

Power steering

Electric fan

Electronic ignition

Painted Wire Wheels, fitted with Goodyear Eagle NCT 215/65 /16 tyres

The Vintage Wireless Company commissioned the PYE radio as fitted to Mike Hawthorne’s MK1 with a 20W amplifier and input lead, compatible with iPhone/MP3.

We have created a truly outstanding car, retaining its original MK1 charm with an added sporting twist. Great fun to drive and with some added refinements that make light work of longer journeys. We’ve really enjoyed this project and the car has been driven to many events and always warmly received.

It’s time to let it go to a new home and adventure, to be driven and enjoyed by its next fortunate owner.

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

Supplied new in September 1991 by Military Car Sales in Germany to its first owner who bought the car whilst serving in the Forces in Germany. Ordered in Rio Red to UK specification, the original Bill of Sale is included within the vehicle documentation file.

In April 1993 the car was bought to the UK, registered, and kept for 7 months. In November 1993 the car was sold to a close friend and car enthusiast who kept the car for over 28 years, but sadly has now been forced to retire from driving due to poor health.

The gentleman was an engineer who fastidiously cared for the car during his ownership.

It was always safely garaged in an integral heated garage, and it certainly shows in its overall condition, the underside is quite remarkable, never having been welded or needing any if cared for in future,

The interior is indeed a very special place, the seats still tight and all the trims are in exceptional condition with no blemishes.

Judging by the way the car drives, we doubt that any of its 131 horses have left the stable, it revs and pulls so sweetly, the gearbox and clutch action being light and silky smooth, the handling simply sublime, very direct and immense fun to drive.

The car has a completely advisory free MOT record and we have listed below its full MOT history:

Key Facts

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

Heralded as the ‘Biggest Truck news in years’ the F-100 and F-250 offered many new features for’65. Featuring Ford’s new Twin-I-Beam independent suspension, new SAE standard parallel-rail frames, new bigger engines, progressive-type rear springs, rugged new transmissions, and extra corrosion protection for critical areas, all of which gave the new Ford truck range greater durability.

Three new engine options were offered, two V6 variants and a more powerful 352 cu.in V8, packing 208HP and 315 lbs-ft of torque at only 2400RPM. The later unit being the powerplant fitted to this truck along with the classic ‘4 in the floor’ manual gearshift.

Believed to be in the custody of one Arizona State family since its first registration in 1965. In 2009 the truck was mechanically recommissioned by the Grandson who then kept for a further 9 years. In 2018 it made its journey to its new UK owner and resided in the West Country for a further 4 years. During this time the owner carefully overhauled the cylinder head, carburettor, water pump, alternator, and brakes. All documentation pertaining to the scope of work is contained within the vehicle file.

Testimony to Ford’s marketing pre-launch info, the extra corrosion protection has certainly done its job in the case of this truck. It’s never been subjected to any welding or filler repairs and all the original panels are remarkably preserved with all factory spot welds evident, the underside still retains its factory stone guard and seam sealer. The faded, patinated paintwork and light surface rust really do add to its character and have been sympathetically sealed with Morris Ankor-Wax. Additionally, the tyres have been replaced in 2018 and a recent exhaust system fitted including Red Cherry Bombs providing a great soundtrack!

In summary, this is one very special Pick-up that’s largely original with every measure taken to ensure its body and mechanical integrity. Living 53 years of its life in a super-dry environment and carefully garaged since its time in the UK. It’s ready to be enjoyed by its next fortunate owner.

1964 Daimler 2.5V8, Beautifully preserved with only one former family owner.

Key Facts

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

A beautifully preserved and original example being formerly owned by one family since new. Delivered to the family home in Finchley, North London by Strastone, Mayfair on the 22nd September 1964 and supplied by distributor’s Sanderson & Holmes LTD, London Road, Derby.

Finished in arguably one of the most desired colour schemes, Opalescent Gunmetal with Red Leather, the colour combination featuring in the original Sales Catalogue.

The Daimler was in regular use and carefully garaged up until the owner’s retirement from driving in 1988.  The mileage covered up to this time being a little under 69,000 miles. For a further 8 years it was carefully garaged then retired to the son’s home in Dorset.

For the past 26 years, it has been carefully maintained, correctly stored, and loved by the family who used the Daimler for various special family occasions and frequently attended local Jaguar Enthusiast Club events, it has covered a little over 3,000 miles during this time.

In 2004, the Daimler was treated to a high quality respray of both sides, the bonnet, roof, and boot lid remain the original one stage aluminumized cellulose finish, the condition and originality of all the panels is quite exceptional. Equally, the chrome is completely original and in excellent condition and the interior is a very special place indeed.

There is an impressively large vehicle history file (Even down to the first original tax disc issued) and an exceptionally good MOT record. A new MOT will be issued prior to delivery, confidently with no advisories.

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

2214RD is a very special car that we have been directly involved with for 20 years. Our relationship started back in 2002 when we purchased the car as a ground-up restoration project. The original buff logbook was supplied with the car upon purchase. It took thousands of man hours to achieve the finished result that you see today, completely restored to perfection and presented in its original livery of Opalescent Graphite with red leather interior.

A Heritage Certificate further confirming originality of the chassis and engine and being the 74th RHD flat-floor model built by Jaguar, Coventry. During the restoration we opted to install the later fitted foot wells, making the car a more comfortable and useable ‘everyday’ car.

In 2012 a deal was struck at the Goodwood Revival with a Swiss client who opted for the car to be converted to left hand drive. Once completed by our engineers, the car was shipped to Switzerland where it resided for a further two years. A change in the client’s circumstances enabled us to buy the car back in 2015.

Remaining with us since this time, it’s been carefully stored and used sparingly on dry days. The time has now come to let the car go to a new home and be enjoyed by its next owner.

1982 VW Scirocco GTI MK2, Ex Volkswagen UK launch car and quite exceptional throughout.

1982 VW Scirocco GTI MK2, Ex Volkswagen UK launch car and quite exceptional throughout.

Key Facts

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

A very early example of a MK2 Scirocco GTI, originally registered new by Volkswagen UK, Milton Keynes as a launch car in June 1982 and subsequently sold to its second registered owner by Contim Motors of South Harrow in September of the same year. The third and last registered owner bought the car from Crowdy’s Garages in February 1986. Cowdy’s at that time being the Swindon based official Volkswagen dealer.

The car was kept carefully for a further 25 years and sold to a dealer and collector who kept the car garaged in his collection until recently.

The vibrant Mars Red exterior looks stunning and was subject to a high quality respray to refresh the fading original over 10 years ago.

The interior is trimmed in the black ‘Sports Stripe’ cloth fabric that was only in production until 1983 when the 1.8 DX engine replaced the 1.6 unit, at the same time Volkswagen dispensed with the rather cool single windscreen wiper mechanism and the two-piece rear parcel shelf with retractable support cables. As you can see from the pictures, all trim aspects are in great condition with an unmolested parcel shelf and cables that still work!

There is extensive documentation supporting the car’s history along with a complete VW driver’s book pack, original service book, original Blaupunkt instruction manual and 3 keys.

Altogether, this is one special Scirocco that would sit very nicely in a serious car collection. It’s still a hoot to drive with its revvy 1.6 engine and with so few now left, unlikely to cross another in your travels.

  • 73811 miles, Mercedes Chelsea

Further to the great care taken maintaining correctly, the car was always garaged and used sparingly, the underside is quite incredible for a UK car, corrosion free as you can see from the pictures we have taken. The MOT history further supports this.

A full drivers handbook is present with the Mercedes extended warranty book issued in January 1996, fully stamped service book, sales brochure with technical specifications and all the original keys.

The W124 was the last of the truly well-made E-Class variant built by Mercedes, the Engineers being in control prior to the ill-fated Chrysler merger when quality significantly declined. With values of good quality examples of its predecessor, the W123 rising to heady levels, a great example W124 is a sound choice for a solid future investment and still a great car to own and drive by modern day car standards.

2000 Audi Cabriolet 2.8i Final Edition Manual, Audi UK owned for 20 years. A very special car

Key Facts

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

This really is the ultimate Audi Cabriolet for the most discerning car collector.

A rather unique example, ordered and commissioned for Audi UK under the Audi Exclusive program. Finished in Brillant Yellow with Banana Yellow Leather interior, comprising of the seating, sports steering wheel and gearstick gaiter.

Originally registered in March 2000 and used by Audi UK for a period of less than 6 months the car was then carefully dry stored in a dehumidified environment by Audi until 2020. Not one MOT advisory in 17 years.

The specification consists of: Electric Hood, A/C, Cruise control, Front Sports seats, Sports steering wheel, Burr Walnut dash fascia, 17’ Audi 10 Spoke Exclusive Alloy wheels, Audi Delta Radio Cassette with boot mounted CD change. The Audi First Aid Kit still retains it cellophane wrapping.

In July 2020 the car was fully serviced with all fluids replenished, new timing belt, water pump and 4 new Pirelli P7 tyres.

Everything about the car resembles a car that’s almost as good as new, with its mileage you could liken it to a car less than 2 years of age and as you could imagine drives flawlessly.

Key Facts

VEHICLE OVERVIEW

1990 LHD Ford Escort XR3 Cabriolet 1.4CVH. 29,050 kms/18156 miles only – only 3 years of use in 32 years!

Finished in stunning Radiant Red with its original black vinyl cabriolet hood and grey hood cover.

With only one owner, the car was bought new in Italy and kept specifically for use on the family’s annual summertime visit to their second home in the Southern Italian province of Isernia. For 28 years, the car was kept in Italy, always garaged safely and quite literally used for one month of every year during this time.

The holiday home was eventually sold in 2018 and the car was bought back to Berkshire, registered, and used sparingly, most of the mileage completed for its annual MOT check.

The service booklet was unfortunately misplaced during the move but there is a signed declaration from the former owner authenticating the mileage and provenance.

  • 1.4 CVH engine model (75BHP) – only available in Europe for a short time, 5 speed gearbox
  • Engine bay is virtually spotless
  • Totally corrosion free, Paintwork exceptional, retaining its depth of colour due to long term indoor dry storage.
  • Excellent interior, seat bolsters being firm & retaining their shape, carpets still retain their new ‘sheen’
  • Electric front windows, central locking, electric mirrors
  • Quality Alpine security release radio cassette with electric aerial – EU specification models didn’t have Ford audio fitted as standard
  • Original electric hood in perfect condition, no perishing of rubber seals, hood cover present and in great condition
  • 14” Lattice alloy wheels – original finish and virtually unmarked, tyres are all minimum of 6.5mm tread depth
  • Underside is in fantastic condition, never being subject to winter usage
